Essie’s Shearling Darling is a gorgeous rich, deep burgandy wine colour which for me is a sophisticated, work appropriate take on the festive nail. This is great if you are going straight from work to your office party and don’t feel that glitter or intricately drawn Christmas puddings or reindeer heads are suitable!
The polish itself is easy to apply and goes on really thick and shiny in just two coats. I find that some Essie polishes are easily chipped but I have worn this for a couple of days and have had no problems with it at all. Colour wise it is a little unimaginative, I feel I have many similar colours but if you are looking for a dark red or burgundy shade this holiday season this is a great one.
I got my Shearling Darling as part of an Essie gift set which would make a great little gift for someone’s stocking this Christmas. You get 3 fantastic Essie polishes in new festive shades for just £12.99. I got my set from Boots. The set has something for the whole of the winter season with Toggle to the Top a great glittery Christmas party shade and Parka Perfect a lovely muted grey blue for the new year when you are sick of all the glitz and glamour and crave something a little more subdued.
