September 2013 Glossybox. First impressions…

After last months rather disappointing box I was looking forward to seeing what Glossybox came up with for September. This months theme is ‘The London Edition’ to commemorate London Fashion Week and I have to say I rather like this box.

Firstly, I really love the box itself, with it’s bold Union Jack design. Also this month’s box included the new GB Mag, a mini magazine with beauty news and interviews which is a great coffee break read and a nice new addition which I hope becomes a regular feature.

On to the contents themselves. My initial impression was that this was another underwhelming box but on closer inspection I was actually quite pleased with it.

Out of all of the items I received there is only one I won’t be using, the Eyelur False Lashes and that is because I just can’t be bothered with false lashes so I’ll probably pass these on.

I know a lot of people don’t like perfume samples but this Elizabeth Arden Untold sample is a really good size and I really like the scent which is fruity, fresh and sweet and I think will make a nice perfume for the coming autumn months.

I love getting hair product samples because I tend not be that adventurous with hair things so this is a good way to find new products. I usually find products I like and stick to them until they’re discontinued then thrash around for months trying to find alternatives! I’ve had good experiences of hair samples from Glossybox in the past and I’m looking forward to testing out this generously sized sample of  Toni and Guy Shine Gloss serum.

You can never have too many lip balms so Dr Lipp Nipple Balm is a welcome addition and will no doubt take up residence in my handbag and equally the Be a Bombshell black eye-liner is one of those items I am always pleased to get as I use black eye-liner a lot and always need to have plenty hanging around. I like this type of felt tip style liner to create a more dramatic smokey eye so I’m looking forward to using this.

Overall I’m happy with this  box. It is full of things which I know will be useful but am also excited to try which is exactly what you hope for in a Glossybox.

What did you guys receive this month?

    • On balance I’d say it’s worth subscribing to GB. I’ve found some fab products and brands I wouldn’t have heard of and it’s really fun opening the box each month. You get a few disappointments but to me it’s been a good experience. Glad I’ve encouraged you to take the plunge :)
